Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 7 August 2026. Terms of use for the Vault website (vault.tools) and the Vault desktop application ("the Tool").

1. Scope and who you are contracting with

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Vault website at vault.tools and of the Vault desktop application ("the Tool"), together "Vault". Your contract is with:

Vault - Sebastian Bos, Marcel Croonenbroeck GbR, Josefstr. 5, 63452 Hanau, Germany (“we”, “us”, “Vault”) — see our Imprint for full details. Contact: info@vault.tools.

These terms apply in the version in force at the time you create your account or place an order. We do not accept differing or additional terms of your own unless we have agreed to them in writing. How we handle your personal data is described separately in our Privacy Policy, which is not part of these terms but forms part of your contractual relationship with us.

2. What Vault is

Vault is an independent tool for tracking and organising Counter-Strike 2 skins. It lets you record purchases, sales, fees and watchlist entries, view a snapshot of your Steam CS2 inventory, browse price history and case, trade-up and Pick'em statistics, and — through the Tool — view live in-game information as an overlay while you play.

Vault is an informational and organisational tool only. We never take custody of, hold, buy, sell, trade, exchange, or broker any virtual item, and we do not operate a marketplace, an exchange, a wallet, or any form of gambling or wagering service. Any transaction you decide to make happens elsewhere — on the Steam Community Market or another platform — entirely between you and that platform, under its own terms.

3. Eligibility and your account

You need a Vault account to use most features. You sign in with your Steam account and must supply a valid email address and choose a username. You may only create an account for yourself, and only one account per person.

You must be at least 16 years old to create a free Vault account. To take out a paid Vault Pro subscription (section 5) you must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract, or have the consent of your parent or legal guardian, who then becomes responsible for the payments.

You are responsible for keeping access to your Steam account and your email account secure, and for everything that happens under your Vault account. Tell us at info@vault.tools if you believe your account has been misused. You may delete your account at any time under Account → Manage → Personal Data.

4. The free version, and advertising

The core of Vault is provided free of charge. To finance the free version, the website and the Tool display advertising supplied by one or more third-party advertising partners. Those partners select and deliver the ads; we do not review each individual ad, and displaying an ad is not an endorsement or a recommendation by us of the advertised product, service or provider.

Ads are delivered from the advertising partner's own servers, which means your device connects to that partner. Which data this involves, on what legal basis, and how you can control it — including through the consent banner where consent is required — is set out in our Privacy Policy. Any contract you enter into with an advertiser is exclusively between you and that advertiser; we are not a party to it and accept no liability for it.

Contracts with advertisers, and the content of advertisements, are outside our control. We are not obliged to monitor third-party ad content in advance, but we will act on specific notices of unlawful advertising — please report any such ad to info@vault.tools.

5. Vault Pro (paid subscription)

5.1 What Pro includes

Vault Pro is an optional paid tier that unlocks additional features on the website and in the Tool and removes the advertising described in section 4 from both. The current, binding list of Pro features is the one shown on our pricing page at the time you subscribe. We may add features to Pro over time; section 9 governs changes to or removal of existing ones.

5.2 How the contract is formed

The presentation of Vault Pro on our website is not a binding offer. You make a binding offer by completing the checkout process and clicking the order button. Before doing so you can review and correct your entries. We accept your offer by confirming the subscription by email or by unlocking Pro on your account, whichever happens first. We store the contract text and send it to you with the order confirmation; the contract language is English.

5.3 Price and payment

Vault Pro costs EUR 1.99 per month. The price displayed at checkout is the total price and includes statutory value added tax at the rate applicable to your country of residence; no additional charges are added by us. Your bank or card issuer may apply its own currency-conversion or foreign-transaction fees, over which we have no control.

Payment is processed on our behalf by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd.) using the payment methods offered at checkout. We are the seller and your contractual partner; Stripe acts only as our payment service provider, and your payment data is entered on and handled by Stripe — we never see or store your full card details. The subscription fee for each period is charged in advance at the start of that period. If a payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend Pro features until payment succeeds; your statutory rights and ours to terminate remain unaffected. Invoices are made available to you electronically.

5.4 Term and automatic renewal

The subscription runs for one month and renews automatically for successive one-month periods until it is cancelled. You can cancel at any time with effect from the end of the current billing period — see section 6. Because the minimum term is one month, you are never locked in for longer than the period you have already paid for.

5.5 Price changes

We may adjust the subscription price for future billing periods. We will notify you in text form at least six weeks before the change takes effect. If you do not agree, you may cancel with effect from the date the new price would first apply; we will point this out to you in the notification. If you do not cancel by that date, the new price applies from the next billing period. Price changes never apply retroactively to periods you have already paid for.

6. Cancelling your subscription

You can cancel Vault Pro at any time, without giving reasons, using the cancellation button in Account → Manage → Subscription, or by sending us an unambiguous statement (for example by email to info@vault.tools). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you are currently in. You keep full Pro access until then, and the fee for the current period is not refunded on a pro-rata basis — your statutory right of withdrawal under section 7 and your statutory rights in case of defects under section 13 are not affected by this.

We may terminate the subscription with one month's notice to the end of a billing period. Our right to terminate for good cause without notice — in particular for serious or repeated breaches of section 10 — remains unaffected; in that case we refund the pro-rata part of any fee you have already paid for the unused remainder of the current period.

7. Right of withdrawal (consumers)

If you are a consumer, you have a statutory right to withdraw from the Vault Pro contract within 14 days of concluding it, without giving any reason. The full statutory withdrawal instruction, including the model withdrawal form and the exact conditions, is provided to you separately before you order and is available at any time at Right of Withdrawal.

Vault Pro is a digital service that we make available immediately. If you expressly ask us to begin providing it before the withdrawal period has expired — which is what happens when Pro is unlocked on your account right after checkout — you may still withdraw within the 14 days, but you must pay us a proportionate amount for the part of the service already provided up to the point you notify us of the withdrawal. Practically, that means you get back the remainder of the month you have not used.

The free version of Vault involves no payment obligation, so no right of withdrawal arises for it; you can simply stop using it or delete your account.

8. What happens when Pro ends

When a Pro subscription ends, your account reverts to the free version: Pro-only features become unavailable and advertising is shown again. Your data is not deleted. Your portfolio, inventory, watchlist and Pick'em data remain in your account and remain exportable and deletable under Account → Manage → Personal Data, even where a Pro-only view of that data is no longer accessible. Deleting your account, by contrast, does erase your data as described in our Privacy Policy, and does not by itself cancel a running subscription — please cancel it as described in section 6.

9. Availability, changes and updates

We aim to keep Vault available continuously, but we do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. Maintenance, technical faults, and events outside our reasonable control can lead to temporary interruptions. We will try to schedule planned maintenance outside peak hours and to announce longer interruptions in advance.

Vault depends heavily on third-party services — in particular Valve's Steam Web APIs, the Steam Community Market as a price source, and Counter-Strike's Game State Integration. If those services change, become unavailable, restrict access, or stop providing data, the affected Vault features may degrade or stop working. This is outside our control and, for the free version, does not give rise to claims against us. For Vault Pro, if a Pro feature is unavailable for a material length of time, your statutory rights under section 13 apply.

We will supply the updates — including security updates — needed to keep Vault in conformity with the contract for the duration of your subscription, as required by the German provisions on contracts for digital products (§§ 327 ff. BGB). Beyond that, we may change, extend, or discontinue features. Where a change goes beyond what is necessary to maintain conformity and would more than insignificantly impair your ability to use Vault Pro, we will inform you in text form with reasonable notice before it takes effect, together with the reason, and you may terminate the subscription free of charge within 30 days of the notification or of the change, whichever is later.

We may discontinue the free version, or individual free features, at any time with reasonable notice.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use Vault for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of Valve's terms for Steam and Counter-Strike;
  • access, or try to access, another user's account or data, or any part of our systems you are not authorised to use;
  • scrape, bulk-download, systematically extract, republish, or resell data, price series, or content from Vault, or use it to build a competing service;
  • circumvent, disable, or tamper with access controls, the Pro entitlement check, rate limits, or any security measure — including sharing, reselling, or otherwise passing on Pro access;
  • use bots, automated scripts, or any other means to place unreasonable load on our infrastructure, or otherwise disrupt the service;
  • reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the Tool, except to the extent that mandatory law expressly permits it;
  • upload or submit content that is unlawful, infringing, malicious, or that you have no right to submit.

If you breach these rules we may, depending on severity, warn you, restrict or suspend individual features, or block or delete your account. We will take your legitimate interests into account and, as a rule, warn you first, unless the breach is serious enough to make that unreasonable.

11. The desktop Tool

For the term of your account we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to install and use the Tool on devices you control, for your own personal, non-commercial use. All other rights remain with us. The Tool updates itself automatically from our own update server so that it stays compatible with the API and receives security fixes.

The Tool reads live match data from your local CS2 client through Counter-Strike's Game State Integration purely to drive the overlay. Vault is an overlay and information tool: it does not read or write game memory, does not automate gameplay, and provides no gameplay advantage of the kind anti-cheat systems target. Even so, you use the Tool alongside Counter-Strike at your own risk, and we accept no liability for measures Valve or any third-party platform, league, or anti-cheat provider may take against your Steam or platform account. It is your responsibility to check whether third-party overlays are permitted on any platform or in any competition you play on.

12. No investment advice; no guarantee of data accuracy

All prices, valuations, returns, probabilities, statistics, and calculator results shown in Vault — including trade-up, case-opening, and ROI calculations — are derived from third-party market data and from our own modelling, and are provided for informational purposes only. They are not financial, investment, trading, or tax advice within the meaning of German or EU financial services regulation, and are not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold anything.

Market data may be delayed, incomplete, or wrong, and past price movements say nothing about future ones. The market for virtual in-game items is unregulated and highly volatile, and item values can fall to nearly nothing. Every decision to buy, sell, or hold is yours alone and at your own risk. This applies equally to the free version and to Vault Pro; paying for Pro does not make our figures a warranty of accuracy.

13. Statutory rights in case of defects

For the paid Vault Pro subscription, the statutory rights of consumers in respect of defects in digital products (§§ 327 ff. BGB) apply in full. In short: we owe you a Pro service that matches the description and is fit for its usual purpose for the whole subscription period, and if it is not, you can require us to fix it and — where the law allows — reduce the fee or terminate the contract. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.

The free version is provided as a gratuitous service; our liability for it is limited accordingly and is governed by section 14 and by the statutory rules on gratuitous contracts.

14. Liability

We are liable without limitation for damages caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, under the German Product Liability Act, and to the extent we have given a guarantee.

In cases of slight negligence, we are liable only for the breach of an essential contractual obligation — that is, an obligation whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose fulfilment you may regularly rely — and in that case only for the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Any further liability is excluded.

In particular, and within these limits, we are not liable for trading losses, missed gains, or other financial disadvantages arising from decisions you make on the basis of prices, statistics, or calculations shown in Vault, nor for the unavailability, discontinuation, or changed behaviour of third-party services such as Steam.

You are responsible for keeping your own backups of data you consider important; you can export your data at any time under Account → Manage → Personal Data.

15. Your content, and our content

Data you enter — your ledger, watchlist entries, notes, picks — stays yours. You grant us only the simple, non-exclusive right to store, process, and display it as far as needed to operate Vault for you. You are responsible for having the right to submit whatever you submit.

The Vault name, logo, software, design, texts, and our own compiled data and statistics are protected by copyright and other rights and remain ours or our licensors'. Use beyond what these terms permit, or beyond what copyright law allows without consent, requires our prior written permission.

16. Relationship to Valve

Vault is an independent, unofficial application and is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored, or approved by Valve Corporation. Counter-Strike, CS2, Steam, and related logos are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of Valve Corporation in the United States and/or other countries. Your use of Steam and Counter-Strike is governed by Valve's own agreements, which you must comply with.

17. Data protection

How we collect and use personal data — including in connection with advertising and with payment processing — is described in our Privacy Policy. It also explains how to exercise your rights of access, erasure, and data portability.

18. Changes to these terms

We may amend these terms where necessary, for example because Vault's features, our providers, or the legal position change. We will notify registered users of material changes in text form at least six weeks before they take effect, and will point out the change and your right to object in the notification. The changes are deemed accepted if you do not object before the date they take effect; if you do object, we may terminate the contract with effect from that date. Changes that materially shift the balance of the contract — in particular to the main service or the price — only take effect with your express agreement; for price changes, section 5.5 applies.

19. Applicable law and dispute resolution

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Where you are a consumer resident in the EU, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.

We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (Verbraucherschlichtungsstelle).

20. Final provisions

Should any provision of these terms be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions is not affected. You may not assign claims arising from this contract to third parties without our consent; § 354a HGB remains unaffected.
